about

Battle Creek is one of the most typical blue collar rust belt cities, it used to be prosperous but now faces all of the usual problems of that arise as a result of high unemployment, poverty rates, and a huge class divide. I grew up in this city and it shaped me and has formed many of my far left political ideas, so I don't understand how someone like our governor could also grow up in the same environment, and think that our neighbors, friends, families, etc. are worthless and not as important than corporations. Cutting social services to give more tax breaks to the already wealthy and trying to destroy unions is not what made this state great in the first place, it was hard working people and good paying jobs largely provided by labor unions and strong welfare state that made Michigan awesome in the first place, something he has apparently lost touch with.

Hopefully the people of Michigan will get this piece of shit out of office, and hopefully Mark Schauer (another Battle Creek resident) will work to reverse the damage done by Snyder. Schauer isn't perfect, but clearly I'll take someone who's 100% pro union over Snyder.

Oh, and Jason Newsted is also from Battle Creek... he played on "And Justice for All", so that rules pretty hard.

lyrics

We're from the same town, so I don't understand how we could see things so differently.
Good people are trying, and they're failing, and it's all because of you
Are you heartless or just stupid?
Your lack of concern, it concerns me
And I don't know how you sleep at night,
Knowing that you haven't done a thing

It's as if you don't care about this place that we're supposed to love

How can you say that things will be alright?
How can you say that things will be just fine?
How can you sit by watching idly?
How can you sit by and not do a thing?

We're from the same town, so I don't understand how we could see things so differently.
Good people are trying, and they're failing, and it's all because of you
You must be heartless and not just stupid
You're lack of concern, it concerns me
And I don't know how you sleep at night,
Knowing that you haven't done a thing

And I don't how someone so goddamn smart can possibly think the best way to benefit the people in our state, our home is by cutting social services to give more tax breaks to already wealthy billionaires. Something about capitalism, blah fucking blah, anarchy.
